The Best Advertising Advice I Received from a Fellow Amazon Seller

One of the most helpful tips I received was to focus on precise ad targeting and optimizing product keywords. A successful seller told me that the key to Amazon advertising is using highly relevant keywords and consistently monitoring and refining ad performance.

They suggested starting with automatic campaigns to identify which keywords drive the most conversions, then using those high-performing keywords in manual campaigns with appropriate bidding strategies. This approach allowed me to reach my target audience more effectively while avoiding wasted ad spend on irrelevant clicks.

Additionally, by regularly analyzing ad data and adjusting keywords and budgets, I’ve been able to better control costs and increase my return on investment in a competitive market. This advice significantly improved my advertising results and helped me promote my products more effectively.

Hello @Seller_bd73dG76TST3q

Thank you for joining the seller forums and for making a first post that is both positive and enlightening. I am happy that you were helped by a fellow seller's advice. Advertising is not easy to get right and I see other sellers post here about their struggles to understand how to best leverage it.

I'm curious about the ad performance of the manual campaigns vs. the automatic campaigns. Can you share any of the ad metrics like ROAS or ACOS percentage and how much of a change you saw when you switched from auto to manual?

Automatic Campaigns are terrible unless you immediately remove a lot of the keywords they add. It will add keywords that are so vague and broad that those words will eat up your daily budget while generating no sales. If you choose to let Amazon pick your keywords, edit the campaign immediately and remove keywords that aren't specific to your product. For example, if you had a campaign for a color laser printer, you'll likely see "color" as a keyword by itself. This is a terrible keyword. You need to used phrases. Most individual keywords will be useless.

I've got the opposite problem, I can never achieve my ACOS goals with manual campaigns
