Your attorney is pretty spot on since it is currently running 6 to 7 months. You can actually find the processing times on the USPTO website.

It generally does but there are many hurdles to get past even before you get to that point.

There are some scenarios where a pending trademark is acceptable for a Brand Registry application.
To be eligible for Brand Registry, your brand must have one of the following:
- An active registered trademark in each country where you would like to enroll
- A pending trademark application that is filed through Amazon IP Accelerator
- A trademark that is pending registration in a subset of accepted trademark offices
