Is It Allowed to Completely Change Content on Existing Listings?

I want to know if it's acceptable under Amazon’s policy to fully change the content of an existing listing — including title, bullet points, description, and backend keywords — for better optimization.

Will this trigger any policy violation or suppression if the product remains the same but the content is entirely updated?

Hello @Seller_kTRyCRwqh9jm3,

Yes, you can fully change the content of an existing listing, including the title, bullet points, description, and backend keywords for better optimization.

Here are the steps to update your existing listing:

  1. Go to the Inventory tab and click Manage Inventory.
  2. Find the listing you want to edit and click Edit.
  3. Update the title, bullet points, description, and backend keywords as needed.
  4. Click Save and finish to apply the changes.

Keep in mind that changes to product information can take up to 5 minutes to appear on your listing, though longer descriptions may take up to 24 hours.

For more information, see the Edit listing and product information page.

Regards,

- Manny

If you are the brand owner registered with Brand Registry and the listing is under your brand, you can change it, more or less. You can update a portion of the title, description, and bullet points, You cannot change the brand and the UPC, and sometimes the picture if it is too different than the original one.

Is this YOUR listing?

You can't change someone else's listing information.

It depends what you're changing. I optimize my listings all the time, it is fine as long as you're optimizing the listing's keywords, images, etc for the same product. What is not allowed is product swapping, you'd get a listing policy violation for completely changing the product you were initially selling
