Seeking advice on submitting a trademark application with slight font changes to a word-mark

Question: I am preparing to submit a trademark application for a word-mark, but the mark on the physical product includes slight font changes that deviate from the standard format requested by the USPTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office). I'm wondering if anyone has experience or knowledge about this situation and can provide guidance. Are there any precedents or specific guidelines to consider when including minor font variations in a word-mark for a trademark application? Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello @Seller_V9DcJUL22kSWo

Thank you for your question here! My name is Sandy from the Community Manager team on the forums.

Since I do not have visibility around the trademark, the fonts and your product, but I can try my best to offer my insights.

It is always better to have an exact match with the trademark and brand name that you apply for, and that brand name can be read on the product or packaging.

With that being said, if you have a slight font change on the physical product, I would include this font brand name somewhere in the LOA, invoice, or other attachments if possible and apply.

Applying for Brand Registry is free, so perhaps you can try my suggestion and if you are not approved we can see what could be the reason and plan next steps.

Best,

Sandy
