54% Cumulative Tariffs from China announced Today
What will you do? Will you be able to pay for these tariffs?
Will you limit your imports?
Will you increase your prices?
Will you go out of business as a 3rd party seller?

i just hope Amazon gets killed with all the products they offer from China. Will serve them right! Time to them to feel some pain - like all the pain they have inflicted on us 3P sellers! (fees over 40%, stealing thousands of dollars of our inventory, and gating hundreds of brands we have sold for years!)

Now up to 125% :(
I mean this will all definitely eat into profits, but I am hoping to at least break even until things clear over.
I'd say ordering now is just too risky. It takes months to produce and arrive to the US. Tariffs could be 400% by then, then drop to 0% the next month, who knows?
I plan on backing off PPC a bit, maybe slightly raise my prices over some time, and make inventory last as long as possible until we get a better idea where things are going.
What's really unfortunate about all this is the ones that play by the rules get punished. For Chinese sellers, chances are they are the factories themselves and can just make up a number for the value of the goods. But I'm sure they wouldn't do that..

Got even worse today. Too bad this administration does not understand what tariffs do the price of goods. We will go up on our prices which will cost the American consumer more money. But at least the Penguins are also getting tariffs. I suggest the Penguins unionize.

If ONLY that were true.
Ask yourself this: How much money would you accept being paid per hour? What kind of Benefits would you expect?
Wall-Mart is the second-largest Employer in the U.S.A.
The Walton Family has become one of the wealthiest Families on Earth.
ALL of that was due to Wall-Mart being able to take advantage of 3rd World Labor in counties where even making $3.00 a day means you won't STARVE to death.
Is THAT the future you wish for America?
Any Manufacturing Jobs done in America will be performed by machines, with a limited number of humans required to maintain and repair the machines.
Yeah! Like that good-old American Grown Coffee.
Or Spices.
Or even Garlic, which is used on more food products that you realize.
All of which come from somewhere else because they do NOT grow well HERE.
Rather than make vague pronouncements, perhaps you should take a few minutes to learn what you are talking about.
Try Google-ing the list of products we get from China
And Mexico.
And Canada.
I am certain that is what they said in Hungary, Turkey & Russia.
They ALL look like they have "Adjusted" to the new "Quality" of life.
It is only someone who is not aware of these facts that could take a position that "We will all adjust".
People in Prison learn to "Adjust" to their new reality as well, but that does NOT mean I wish to live like that myself.
But keep on drinking that Kool-Aid! I am sure that SOMEHOW you, and everyone you Love, will be spared, while the rest of us suffer. [Sarcasm intended].

I don't really get involved in these issues any longer as my posts get taken down, but I will just say one thing 'countries, manufacturers and suppliers DO NOT pay tariffs, tariffs are paid by the entity ordering the items at the time of entry, it has always been like this and always will be.
Many small sellers that have ordered from China up to 3 months ago and their shipments are arriving are facing 100 - 140% tariff and if they don't pay it the shipments stay in the port and no doubt subject to holding fees. Many sellers are cancelling their Chinese orders if they have not left yet.
Even large companies such as Amazon, Walmart, Marshalls, TJ Maxx have between 40% and 60% of their stock from China, they will all have to pay the tariffs.
Tariffs do not work and only the end user suffers,. there is not a good outcome to this.
Regarding the removal of the De Minimis rule, this puts an end to around 1 million low value parcels a day arriving in the U.S that will now be subject to up to 140% tariff.
To the MODS, I hope this is non political enough for you as I have mentioned no names or included any political viewpoint, it is merely a statement of fact regarding an outdated system where nobody wins.

History completely agrees with you.
Everyone who has never heard of the "The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act", do yourself a favor and LEARN from the examples of History:
"The Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act, enacted in 1930, significantly raised import tariffs on a wide range of goods, sparking retaliatory tariffs from other countries and contributing to a sharp decline in international trade, exacerbating the Great Depression enacted in 1930, significantly raised import tariffs on a wide range of goods, sparking retaliatory tariffs from other countries and contributing to a sharp decline in international trade, exacerbating the Great Depression."
Also:
"Economists warned against the act, and the stock market reacted negatively to its passage, which more or less coincided with the start of the Great Depression. It raised the price of imports to the point that they became unaffordable for all but the wealthy, and it dramatically decreased the amount of exported goods, thus contributing to bank failures, particularly in agricultural regions."
Is THAT the America the MAGA people wish to Return to? The Great Depression?

We face a 145% tariff on shipment in a tanker that departed April 9th. . We can't afford it and already have debt.
Gemini says: Given the time difference and the news article's emphasis on when the shipment left:
• If your goods were physically loaded onto the ship and the ship departed from Ningbo before 12:01 PM China Standard Time on April 9, 2025 (which is 12:01 AM EDT on April 9, 2025), then they would likely be considered "in transit" before the tariff went into effect and could be exempt.
• However, if the ship's actual departure from Ningbo occurred at or after 12:01 PM CST on April 9, 2025, then your goods would likely be subject to the new tariffs, even if they were loaded earlier that day.
Why the Departure Time Matters More Than Loading:
The executive order, as described in the article, focuses on the moment the goods began their journey towards the US for the tariff exemption. Loading onto the ship is a necessary step for that journey, but the actual departure signifies the commencement of that transit.
Crucial Next Steps (Reiterated):
1 Obtain the Precise Time of Departure (ATD): You must get the exact time the vessel left the port of Ningbo from your shipping line.
2 Convert ATD to EDT: Compare that time to the 12:01 AM EDT deadline on April 9th.
3 Gather Supporting Documentation: If the departure was before the deadline, get official confirmation of the departure time.
4 Consult Your Customs Broker: They are the experts in interpreting these regulations and can best advise you on how to proceed with your customs declaration.

we are now up to 145% - and not a word from AMZ about the ability to change prices to reflect this

We make our product in the US, but... most of the materials we need are not made here at all, the only option is materials from primarily from China, so this affects everyone including US based manufacturers... Our primary supplier announced an 86% increase in material cost?! They explained their cumulative cost increase calculation based on initial tariff plus reciprocal tariff? Over reactions all around I'm afraid-

The U-Turns have started, smart phones and computers now exempt from Chinese tariffs, I wonder who strong armed him into that, rhymes with Grapple.
Uncertainty, more u-turns than a main road with a blockage.
