Can anyone explain "Incorrect Package Tier" Charges for MFN?

Hello, and thanks in advance.

I've been selling an item through FBA for approximately eight years. During this peak season, maintaining stock levels is challenging, so I've also been selling MFN. I often opt for Amazon's own ground shipping service due to their competitive rates and convenient pickup from our location.

Recently, I've encountered an issue with additional fees being charged for "Incorrect Package Tier." For instance, an order might initially incur a shipping cost of $8.75, but later, a separate fee of $13.50 is added for the same order under "Incorrect Package Tier." I'm puzzled about this charge, as I am confident that the weights and dimensions we provide are accurate. For accuracy, I round up the weights (e.g., an item weighing 6 lbs 7 oz is listed as 6 lb 15 oz) and do the same for box sizes (an item shipped in an 11 x 7 x 7 box is entered as 12 x 8 x 8).

Could anyone help me understand the reason behind these additional fees? At scale, these add up quickly.

The same with me, I am 100% positively correct about the dimensions and weight of all packages. But, still incur Incorrect package tier charges.

It doesn't make sense, and to make matter worse the additional charges are crazy. 12, 13, 14, 15 bucks adjustment. Straight robbery!

This needs to be corrected asap and sellers should be reimbursed.

Hi @Seller_nDRxfz3u2RdBS, any chance you've opened any cases with seller support with examples of this I can look into?

@Topher_Amazon I have the same issue .I started using amazon shipping (that amazon themselves picks up and ships your packages)and almost every one of my orders has the incorrect package tier charge and they are all for a substantial charge which is in addition to the original shipping charge. I tried opening a seller support case and did not receive any help. They seem to have no idea what the charges are for but nonetheless have not provided any refunds. I measure and weigh every shipment and the dimensions and weights are all correct. Can you please provide assistance.
