How to Change Feed-Product-Type
We're in the midst of a massive catalog cleanup correcting many legacy listings.
We notice in some cases ASINs have been created on the wrong feed_product_type but we can't find anyway to get that changed. We are able to successfully change the Item_Type_Keyword however when we download the category listings report the feed_product_type still shows the old product type.
We believe this is causing variation violations for products that are Valid Variants but were initially incorrectly categorized.
Appreciate any support here.

Hi @Seller_0qyRtqm32cQSi,
Out of curiosity, are you updating the feed_product_type via a flat file or the web interface? From what you mentioned, it sounds like you’re using the category listings report to verify the feed_product_type, but it’s not entirely clear if the updates were made through a flat file.
If you’re not already using a flat file, that might be worth a try since the processing report provides confirmation on whether updates have been successfully applied or if there are any specific errors to address.
Best, Michael

Hey @Seller_0qyRtqm32cQSi,
Sounds like you have a huge undertaking to update and adjust these Product Types for your products. I appreciate the efforts and the work that goes into fixing the catalog like this. In some instances the Product Type can be updated but in others Amazon may be making the final decision on the ASIN. You should however be able to appeal ASINs but if you have a lot you are trying to adjust at once you may need to make requests in batches. I would recommend ensuring that the products you are trying to adjust you adjust all to the same product type in each request. If you have a Case you are stuck on I can see what I can do to assist if you provide your most recent Case ID. Thank you for your understanding.
