Error 8572 for Genuine Indian ISBN Agency issued ISBN numbers

Greetings!

Can you please guide us as to how you map the books bibliographic data in your system, I assume that the ISBN of the book and their records you might be getting from data aggregators or ISBN Agency. For example Amazon UK maps that data from Nielsen Book in UK and Amazon US maps the data from Bowker in the US, but for the Indian ISBN issued by the Indian ISBN Agency, how do you map this data into your database??

The reason behind asking this question is that, the customer service executive who handle such queries are not aware of the exact process or procedure. Under the error 8572 we are being asked for GS1 certificate, but for ISBN GS1 certificate are not required (EXTRACT FROM AMAZON US: I have a self published book that I want to sell on Amazon FBA. Amazon states that because it is a book I need an ISBN from GS1. I talked to GS1 and they confirmed they no longer sell ISBNs as they relinquished that to Bowker which is the only company to buy an ISBN from in the US. I have an ISBN through Bowker but when I enter it I get the 8572 error code saying Amazon can't validate the code. When I talk to Amazon Customer support, they tell me I need to buy the ISBN through GS1 so that when they search the GS1 database it will match. But it's impossible to buy an ISBN through GS1. What do I do?!) (extract from International ISBN Agency: If you only want to use the ISBN in bar-coded form, you do not have to become a member of GS1 in order to do so) (EXTRACT FROM AMAZON UK: GS1 are correct. For books, the correct product identifier is the ISBN. If the book isn’t already in the Amazon catalogue, there is a procedure to create a new catalogue page. If your problem is that Amazon isn’t recognising the ISBN when you try to do this, that probably means that your ISBN hasn’t yet been registered on the Neilsen database, which is what Amazon rely on. REPLY TO EXTRACT ON AMAZON UK: Oh dear, you did not need to buy GS1 barcodes - all books are identified with their ISBN. What Paul and Bairstows say is correct, the ISBN needs to be registered with Neilsen) Another fact is that GS1 have automatically given 978 & 979 as identifier for Books as per their documentation hence no need for GS1 certificate.

So ultimately the question that needs to be addressed over here is how and where can be provide, create or update the records of the correct ISBN provided to the end user by the Indian ISBN Agency to be included in the Amazon.in database and their by its catalog.

Please advise and oblige.
