Has anyone received this message from Amazon in your seller central account. It was both in an E-mail, as well as in the actual seller central message box. Then there came an E-mail from Amazon declaring it to be a phishing scam. Pretty weird. Let me know please.

No, we have not received such a message but it's definitely a phishing attempt.
Are you referring here to buyer/seller messaging? Anyone who finds one of your products on Amazon can send you a message. Amazon would communicate with you through your dashboard/performance notifications/account heath, not through buyer/seller messaging.
Your account is clearly open or you wouldn't be posting here. You may want to change your password, however, just to be on the safe side.
Amazon wouldn't refer to you as a customer. You are a selling partner in their eyes.
Also, report the message.

DO NOT reply; DO NOT follow those instructions.
If this came through Amazon messaging, report and mark as no response needed.
100% bad juju there.

Hello @Seller_uISnKMuSmxLVi,
My name is Dougal from the Community Manager Team. Apologies for the delay in my response as I was out of the office and just returning. Obviously, this post needed a timely response, but I do see your account is still active and I am glad you heeded the advice of @Seller_Hi7wbO2Kbo6bl (thank you).
You did the right thing in this case, if you receive an email from Amazon that doesn't "Feel rights," definitely open a case with seller support to determine validity. And you are of course welcome to jump in the Forums for advice as well.
Best, Dougal
