Brand Approval vs Brand Registration
I'm about to list my first private label product and would like to know if brand approval will protect my listing? I just don't want someone else jumping on my listing with their product that isn't branded same as mine.
I will ideally like to do brand registry, and I know there are many benefits of doing that, but I am testing the waters still and want to avoid extra costs if I can for now.

i would think brand approval means you are approved to sell an existing brand, where as brand registration means you own the brand
so in my head 2 totally different things, if you want to protect your brand, you need brand registration

hiya, yes brand approval 'should' protect your listing in the short term, i did that, got approval for my idea for my brand, sent amazon pictures of my product with branding attached, to test the waters then once we started making money went and trademarked it.
What i would say is do a trademark search and make sure there are no exact or similar trademarks as that bit me in the backside first time round as my idea was too similar to another existing trademark and they objectedand i had to start again. Trademark takes about 2-3 months all in so do the brand approval catalogue authorisation in your prospective category then go for it.
Also not sure how many products you have but once you get brand approval apply for GTIN exemption then you can list as many products as you want under your branding and you wont have to buy individual barcodes for your products which is another good saving for the frugal entrepreneur!
You do hear horror stories about listing being hijacked etc.. but i did it this way and it was fine.
