i have obtained GTIN exemption under home & garden and still i am not able to list my product, is there any no. which i need to fill in product id coloum.

Hi,

I am assuming you’re facing Error Code 5665.

This issue is basically about getting your brand whitelisted by Amazon so you’re allowed to sell items under that particular brand name.

I remember this issue I faced when I started out. It took me close to 20 days to have my brand whitelisted. It was a horrific experience and these seller support executives couldn’t give a damn about a seller’s time. Their lethargy and ignorance and arrogance is cringe worthy.

So here’s what you need to do.

  1. Understand what Amazon really wants here. Amazon needs proof that the brand you’re selling belongs to you for real. So what they really want is HARD EVIDENCE. In order to do that you need to upload 3 images.
  2. Take a sample of a product what you want to sell and click a photo of it (this click doesn’t have to be professional, more amateur the better).
  3. Take a packaging material (it is very important to know that that packaging material should have your branding on that) and put the product in that bag/material (or whatever is suitable for you) and take another photo of it (again, more amateur of a photography the better).
  4. Upload the screenshot of the error code you’re receiving and the two images clicked (precisely as mentioned above) and upload it to the case raised (or better create a new case with an appropriate subject line saying “Brand Whitelisting - getting Error Code 5665, appropriate images attached” or something like that.

And hope for the ball to roll. They’re ridiculously slow in replying and obnoxiously frustrating to deal with as they couldn’t care a damn about you as a seller and that’s the hard truth as a Seller selling on Amazon you need to accept mentally and move on.

Hey, once you’ve taken the GTIN Exemption you can start listing the products without entering the Product ID in that particular category. Different products activate on GTIN Exemption in different time, some takes 30 min. some even take 24 hours after that you can start listing. Just leave the product ID field blank. Check that you’re using the brand name as Generic (or whatever brand name you asked for GTIN Exemption) otherwise it won’t work. Brand name & Category should be exactly the same for which exemption is granted. :grin:
