Prime Day Discussion
How has it been? Day one we did 35% less than the 1st day of prime day 2022.
Is the sense that this Prime Day is slower than last or are we failing in our execution somehow?

I think it's just dilution - now there are soooo many "deals" and customers have to weed through soooo many listings as well. It's kinda akin to yard sale shopping - there are some deals but you have to look at 95% junk first to find them.

As a customer, didn't even look at Prime Day Deals. As a business/seller, did not put anything on Prime Day deal. We don't have a large mark-up, so continue to sell at the same price year round.

Hi @Seller_0qyRtqm32cQSiand thanks for starting this thread. We always like to get updates from sellers during Prime Day, so I was happy to see yours (even if you're reporting slower sales so far).
I don't see anything here that requires input from a Community Manager like me, but I wanted to say thank you for posting and wish you all a prosperous rest of your Prime Day today.
Thanks,
- Danika

Up a little vs last year, which is a nice surprise. I added coupons to my aged inventory and that seems to be working. People looking for deals.

Prime Day has become like Black Friday (which turned into Black Friday Week, Black Friday Month, and Black Friday in June.)
As a seller, it seems like we're being invited to shout out our offers in a room with 10,000 other sellers all shouting at the same time.
I'm waiting for Prime Week, next, in which ten zillion items are Lightning Deals at a whopping 10 percent off. The biggest effect Prime Day has had on me is make Prime Video almost impossible to use with all the pop-up Prime Day offers making it harder to find my shows.

Seems like your better off just running your products at normal prices and just take advantage of the extra traffic on the site. Otherwise you gotta discount so heavily they you just lose all your profit trying to push a few extra units

Amazon offers "Prime" as a Badge of Honor on a Seller, however, it also comes with a significant increase in shipping pressure. For this reason "Amazon Prime" was something I never chose to participate in, even when well-qualified.
To me, "Amazon Prime Day" is like "Valentine's Day", in that is created for a specific marketing purposes.
I always understood that "Prime Day" really ONLY applied to Amazon "Prime" Sellers, and even then, ONLY those of them that created "Sales" specifically FOR "Prime Day". It seems to be a small list of Amazon Sellers.
I choose NOT to be "Prime", and I do not have "Sales" for "Prime Day", so I have never seen an significant increase in sales on "Prime Day(s)".
Generally, Sales for this Year-To-Date have DEFINITELY been DOWN compared to EVERY other year we have Sold on Amazon. There are many, many probable causes for this decline, and many other possible ones as well.
For those of us who offer products that many people DESIRE, but that no person actually NEEDS, there is little we can do but keep doing our best on the orders we receive and wait for the "Worm to turn".
Good Luck to us All!

Its been a bust so far. Strangely enough, the days leading up to Prime Day were very good. Like people were looking for stuff to buy today, but ended up buying early or something. So who knows...

The daily price is close to the cost price.
We have run out of profit margins.
Just to survive.
The trap of most seller's prime day only increases the price and then back to the original price by discounts.
