Account Verification Issue

Hi, I am having issues with the verification process and I hope that someone can help, please.

I was asked to provide one of the following documents:

---------------------

What type of document do I need to provide?

Business verification documents:

-- One of the following documents issued by HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) within the last year:

- Class 2 National Insurance Contributions (NICs) Bill

- Online VAT Certificate

- Self-Assessment notice to complete a tax return

- Letter confirming your Unique Taxpayer Reference (UTR) number

- Self Assessment Statement

- Short Tax Return.

If you are unable to provide any of these documents, you can request a Confirmation of Unique Taxpayer Reference letter by calling HMRC and asking for the "Self-Assessment Department". The letter may take two weeks to arrive by mail.

--------------------------------

I have provided, Online VAT certificate, letter confirming UTR number, self-assessment statement and full tax return.

Full tax return and self-assessment statement were downloaded from my HMRC online account and were rejected for the reason of the documents not being valid.

Online VAT certificate and letter confirming UTR were rejected as outdated.

I contacted customer service several times but no one seemed to be capable of helping.

Once I was told that the UTR letter was mistakenly rejected as it was fine regardless of a date, and I was asked to upload it again. I did and of course, and it was rejected. They sent an email saying:

If you are unable to provide any of these documents, you can request a Confirmation of Unique Taxpayer Reference letter by calling HMRC and asking for the "Self-Assessment Department". The letter may take two weeks to arrive by mail.

I spent over an hour trying to reach someone on the phone from the HMRC self-assessment department to request a new letter confirmation of my UTR, and they did. My letter arrived by post I scanned it, and uploaded it for verification and you won't believe but it was rejected for the reason of being not valid.

When I asked customer service for help again, I was told that Amazon currently accepts only genuine HMRC documents sent by post not downloaded from HMRC website. What? I have just provided such document and it was rejected. This is just unbelievable.

I am stuck and not sure what to do now.

I hope someone can help. Thank you

Yes Amazon only accept letters not downloaded copies - which is madness in the digital age.

The only thing I can think of is that your details on the HMRC letter do not match the details entered on Amazon - name, address, business name, UTR number that sort of thing. Check that closely and if identical contact the verification team again

I had the same.. it went on for a year. Try and use the phone option as much as possible as they are actual people. Eventually I got someone in a US call centre, she looked at docs supplied, said everything was fine and she had no idea why it had been going round in circles.... got my account approved next day.
