How to configure cutoffs in the new Locations tab in Shipping Settings
We're entirely merchant-fulfilled, with four warehouses in three time zones. Several months ago, we stopped using Shipping Service Automation. With SSA turned on and our order cutoff set to 5 p.m., this really meant 5 p.m. ET (because our Florida warehouse is our default), which meant that our Central warehouse's cutoff was 4 p.m. ET and our Pacific warehouse's cutoff was 2 p.m. ET. This prevented us from hitting the 30% 1-day delivery promise metric for Seller Fulfilled Prime eligibility, so we had to turn off SSA. When using a non-SSA template, our 5 p.m. order cutoff time was then localized (i.e., 5 p.m. meant 5 p.m. irrespective of time zone).
Now we see the Locations tab has appeared in our shipping settings, and if we switch back to SSA, we can set cutoffs for each warehouse location by carrier and day (Mon-Fri, Sat, and Sun). My question is, are the cutoff times that appear in the drop-down menus localized or set to our account default? In other words, if I choose a 5 p.m. cutoff for our Nevada warehouse, is that 5 p.m. PT or 5 p.m. ET?
(Another reason to potentially revert to SSA: If you use manual transit times instead of SSA, you have to set a cutoff for Same-Day Delivery; the earliest option is 1 a.m. We ship almost everything via UPS; there's no time of day that someone could order from us, UPS could pick it up and UPS could deliver it the same day. For In-store Pickup - which we haven't turned on yet - that would be a different story. But I can't imagine there's a way to configure Same-Day Delivery so that it only means "same-day in-store pickup")
