Unable to Change Category Browse Node, Sales Have Significantly Decreased Since Then.
Hello, hope everyone is having a good weekend.
I'm having a major issue with a category change for my ASIN which occurred a months ago. Consequently my sales and ranking have deteriorated since this change. I used to sell 30+ units or more per day, and now I hardly achieve 10. Funny thing, my competitors category remained unchanged, the competitor was buying the same product from me, as I am a USA based manufacturer.
No matter how many times I have opened up a case with Amazon, they give me the same copy/paste answer that this is the correct category node based on my detail page and the way buyers find the product by searching and browsing, and that it cannot be changed.
I need to go back to my previous browse node (which was the most relevant for my product) that me and my competitors have been selling under for the past few years and which helped bring more profit for me and for Amazon.
Can I have a moderator please look into this for me? Thank you. Case ID: 17128745491

Hi @Seller_iWaMLAhcdzBtd,
I feel for you - seeing your daily sales drop from 30+ to 10 units must be really frustrating. Let me share what I found in the help documentation that might help with your category situation.
The browse node classification system primarily relies on three key elements from your listing. You can find this under the "Browse path" section at Change a product's category or browse path:
- Title
- Bullet points
- Product description
Since you've already opened cases and received responses about classification being based on your detail page, here's what I'd suggest trying:
First, take a look at these three elements in your listing to make sure they align well with your intended category. The help page notes that "high quality information in these attributes is critical for optimal classification."
Then, you might want to check out the Browse Tree Guide for your category - you can find it at Browse for products. This guide can help identify the most specific browse node for your product.
When you open your next case, consider including:
- Examples showing how your product fits the previous category
- Information about being the manufacturer and how your competitor is selling the identical product in your desired category
- The specific browse node ID from the Browse Tree Guide
Just keep in mind that according to My ASIN is unsearchable, any changes to browse nodes can take up to 72 hours to appear in search results.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction! Let us know how it goes.
Best regards, Michael
