Re-Verification - Sole Proprietor

I'm seeing mixed information on this so I'm hoping someone can clarify.

I've been a seller for 8 years, amazon is asking for re-verification. The first question is to select "business type"

None, I am an individual makes the most sense as I am a sole proprietor, amazon sends me a 1099 with my SSN and under my current Tax information it has "Individual" as my tax classification and my legal business name as my name (missing my middle name which may be triggering the re-verification?)

Reading online, people are saying selecting "none, I am an individual" limits you to selling your own used personal items.

Like everyone else, I'm concerned of hitting the wrong selection and getting stuck for weeks trying to resolve. Any input would be greatly appreciated!

To say frankly, I don't know the American laws. But you say you are a sole proprietor and at the same time you say you are an individual. If you buy (or produce) and sell products with the aim of making money and even a living of it - you are a sole proprietor and not an individual. Sole proprietor as is your neighbour the farmer, your baker you buy the bread from, as is the mechanic who repairs your car. They are all sole proprietors and pay tax for the result of their work.

As far as you pay taxes for your earnings on Amazon (thing you HAVE TO do) you are not an individual but a business. And a sole proprietor IS a form of business. According to the IRS "A sole proprietor is someone who owns an unincorporated business by himself or herself".

If your LEGAL INFO is your name, and your tax from Amazon is in your name, you need to click "individual" when you Re-Verify. The next page will ask for a front and back of your Drivers License and a Bank or CC statement that matches your address.

FYI that's how I am set up as well.

Good luck with your Re-Verification:)
