Key announcements from the 2024 Amazon Smbhav summit
At the fifth annual Amazon Smbhav in New Delhi, we announced a number of initiatives including the following pledges:
- Our Smbhav Venture Fund earmarked $120 million to invest in manufacturing and AI startups.
- We signed a memorandum of understanding with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) to help accelerate the government's key priority of establishing India as a global manufacturing hub and create thousands of jobs.
- We launched Amazon Freight and Amazon Shipping for last-mile services in India. Businesses across India can now utilise our reliable and cost-effective logistics services.
- We increased our commitment to enable ecommerce exports from India by pledging $80 billion in cumulative exports by 2030, compared to our soon-to-achieve pledge of $20 billion in exports by 2025.
"I am incredibly excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for Amazon in India. As one of the world's fastest-growing economies, India is a key market for Amazon and our focus areas align well with the government’s vision and priorities of digitising small businesses, boosting exports and creating jobs,” says Amit Agarwal, Senior VP, Emerging Markets at Amazon.
