Removal of customer phone numbers for Easy Ship Orders

At Amazon customer trust is our top priority.

To comply with Amazon’s confidentiality and personal data agreement, effective April 8, 2021 sellers will no longer have access to customer phone numbers for Easy Ship orders as such information is not necessary for sellers to fulfill customer orders.

To contact a customer about their order, you can continue to use Buyer-Seller Messaging. Please see Contact a buyer using Buyer-Seller Messages and Buyer-Seller Messaging FAQ for more information.

In case you require access to customer phone numbers to obtain critical information necessary for order completion such as product customization inputs or to facilitate product installation, please submit your request through below form. The team will look into the requests and approve or reject based on the business justification and criticality of the information required from customers for order completion.

Access requests to access customer phone numbers which are not critical to order completion will be rejected. You are advised to use only the Buyer-Seller Messaging channel to communicate with customers.

Poor decision to remove phone nos

For product returns, it gave seller the opportunity to communicate with buyer regarding the issue with the product and resolve on call itself

Customers never read mail communication and goes in their junk

Giving phone nos reduced customer returns and should continue

You can do it if we dont have to pay fwd shipping fees for the all rejected and courier return. Either you dont take shipping fees for all unsuccessful order delivery from us or let us confirm our order or its a bad decision.

this is very bad idea, this will increase customer returns, until now we regret selling on flipkart due to this same policy which costs lot of returns.
For example, once a customer ordered 2 same products which are cod, and when I confirmed him the same, he said he dont want the product and actually wants to cancel the order but dont know how to do it
