I am new!! How do I list a product?

How do I know if the product I am ordering from China will need a UPC or GTIN? If it needs one of these, how do I know which one?

"I am new!! How do I list a product?"

DON'T!

Waste some time going through Amazon's seller university and/or reading a few dozen forum posts and responses.

Hi there @Seller_hbJFZjgoIfRUG,

I'm excited for you to start your selling journey! I do heavily recommend ensuring you have reviewed Amazon Policies and best practices by checking out Seller University.

Regarding your specific question, in general Amazon requires that most products have valid product identifiers like UPCs, EANs, ISBNs, ang GTINs. However there are instances in which you can't provide a UPC you might be able to file for an exemption.

You will want to ensure you have asked these questions before you start listing:

1) How am I verifying the source of my inventory?

2) Will I need to apply to sell my product?

3) Am I selling a product with an existing brand, listing a generic product, or do I have my own brand?

Feel free to reach out if you run into any specific questions as you do your research and good luck selling!
