You CAN file for a TM do-it-yourself style and it only costs a couple hundred dollars. Search for the USPTO website (Amazon would remove it if I furnished it).
The accelerators will vary but you can ask for pricing from them.
When I did mine the initial cost was about $1200 as I recall since I filed for a TM in TWO categories. Some things needed to be changed for an examiner that objected to a word so that ran the cost up to over $1500.
It was during Covid so it took about 15 months or so as I recall.
And NO you do NOT get any of the money back.
Go in and do a search for what you want to use for the brand name to see if someone has beaten you to it before you even go any further.

BRAND REGISTRY, DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. BEING BRAND REGISTERED OFFERS ZERO ADVANTAGES. MY BRAND IS BEING SOLD BY OTHER VENDORS INCLUDING AMAZON FBA AND I CANNOT GET IT TO STOP. FURTHERMORE, TWO OF THESE SELLERS CLAIM THAT THEY MAKE MY BRAND. THESE SELLERS LIST MY BRAND NAME, SHOW MY PHOTO OF MY ITEM WHICH HAS MY BRAND, AND THEN STATE THAT MY BRAND IS MADE BY THEM. I HAVE BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF AMAZON AND ASKED FOR IT TO BE RECTIFIED, PROVIDED ALL OF THE BRAND PAPERWORK, BUT STILL NO RESOLUTION. YOU CANNOT ACTUALLY CONTACT BRAND REGISTRY, THEY HAVE NO PHONES. I AM GUESSING THEY SIT IN A DARK ROOM, NO ELECTRICITY, NO PHONES, NO CONTACT WITH THE OUTSIDE WORLD, ETC.... BECAUSE YOU CAN'T GET ANYTHING DONE WITH BRAND REGISTRY. I ACTUALLY GET HIT WITH BOGUS CLAIMS THAT THE ITEM I OWN, AND MANUFACTURE IS "COUNTERFEIT". BWHAHAHAH, HOW CAN I COUNTERFEIT MY OWN BRAND?!?!? I CAN'T!!! YET, I STILL HAVE TO FIGHT THESE BOGUS CLAIMS AND FIGHT TO GET MY LISTING REACTIVATED EACH TIME. IT'S A BIG SCAM. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME. AMAZON WILL DO WHATEVER THEY WANT TO YOU, YOUR MONEY, AND LET YOUR BRAND BE KNOCKED OFF AND SOLD BY ANYBODY.
