buyer claims not recieved, then empty package
Hello all, so Im in a bit of a situation! A buyer contacted me to state something never arrived, tracking showed delivery and signature to the buyers address. The buyer then changed their story to their mum signed for it but when they opened it the box was empty. I asked for photos but the buyer has disposed of packaging! Seems very convinent.
Ive tried the whole, raise an investigation and involve the police etc, said about fraud and theft etc but been polite and havent been accusing but the buyer is still saying it was empty. Normally after the mention of police and investigation any would be scammer would disappear. I have a proof of delivery document from the courier showing a weight of 3kg, my concern is my ODR is around 1% so if they open a claim or leave a bad feedback my account would be negative. Anyone had something similar and defended this or should i role over and refund?
Any mods that could offer any advice or step in if the buyer does decide to open a claim etc?
Thanks

Any mods that could offer any advice or step in ?
The only way to get a mod to even see your post is by tagging them in by putting @ in front of their name.
Yet another example of blatant customer fraud, I would say.

Definitely sounds like fraud. Why would you throw away all the packaging for something that you were discussing with the seller?
Really though, you have all the proof in theory to fight a potential A-Z. Delivery, signature and weight document. Though in the end, its up to you if you wanted to risk your account over it.

Thanks for the replies! If it escalates I will tag a mod to see if they can do anything. But yeah Im gonna stand my ground on this one. Its a £150 order so not exactly cheap. Ive told the customer im unable to issue a refund but will be filing a police report, will update if anything else happens. Defiantly expecting a claim to be opened soon

I've recently received a message from Amazon buyer claiming the box was ripped with nothing inside, I've asked for pictures but no reply yet.....I'm new to this so didn't know the customer could file a claim which can impact my account.
