What does "receipts" ACTUALLY mean on the inventory ledger?

Amazon says "receipts" means "Units that were received in shipments to fulfillment centers." But is that true? Does "receipts" mean they actually laid eyes on the items?

Asking because Amazon says I had 17 items missing in a shipment (not possible) (5 of one item, 12 of another). The inventory ledger shows a "receipts" status for both items totaling 17. Then almost a month later both items are shown with a negative amount and says "receipts" again??

Naturally, I opened a case and it was immediately closed and no longer open for investigation.

I think Amazon should be required to provide a video of them receiving your closed boxes/pallets, opening the boxes/pallets, and unpacking the items. Seems what is going on is fraudulent. Too many items see to go "missing" or are "not received" and sellers have no way to account for items when amazon receives them.

Hi @Seller_LaXfWb19u77C5,

Thank you for reaching out about this! You are correct, "receipts" indicate the units that were received in shipments to the FC.

That said, can you please confirm your shipment ID that is missing the units? Additionally, can you please send me any case IDs you have for this shipment? I'd be happy to take a further look into this situation to see how I can help further!

Thanks again,

Jameson
