Updating a listing using flat file spreadsheet What happens to blank columns?
I am attempting to update a current listing using a spreadsheet. The spreadsheet provided by Amazon has only populated 5 columbs (sku+asin+title and 2 more). Everything else is blank, my question is, if i upload this spreadsheet with so many blank columns will it recognize that those columns don't need update or will it be remove from the current listing?. I want to make sure I don't delete fields on my current listing by leaving those columns in blank. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi @Seller_8BvRzK6YM6jZ1,
The safest approach for updating an existing listing is to use "PartialUpdate". In the "Performing other partial updates" section at Using inventory file upload for partial updates, Amazon explains that you should:
- Enter your SKU
- Type "PartialUpdate" (exact capitalization) in the Update/Delete field
- Fill in only the fields you want to modify
- Leave other fields blank (unless marked as required)
The good news is that when using PartialUpdate, blank fields won't delete your existing listing data.
If you're curious about the technical details, there's a helpful note in the "Enhance listings in bulk" section at Enhance your listings that confirms this: "set the update_delete column to PartialUpdate and provide values only for the column that you wish to update. This will help to avoid overwriting changes."
Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any other questions.
Best regards, Michael
