Amazon changed my ASINs without notice, sometime in the last couple of weeks.

Amazon changed my ASINs without notice, sometime in the last couple of weeks.

I sell a couple of dozen different items most of which are available as FBA or FBM. Up until a few weeks ago, the FBA and FBM items had different ASINs. This was how Amazon helped me set up my items when I first started selling in 2021. (Yes, Amazon helped. I was a small business, and they had what I'm guessing was a COVID-era make-work project.)

I purchased packaging pre-printed with the ASINs for the FBA items.

A couple of days ago, I received notification from Amazon that a shipment of a hundred of the same arrived at the Amazon warehouse but none of them could be scanned. To correct the shipping policy violation, I had to watch a video that taught me how to prep items and then pass a test of my learning. I assumed it was some sort of weird goof on my part, but I'd never had any issues before.

I'm prepping a shipment of several hundred items of a different item today using my pre-printed packaging. On a whim, I scanned the ASIN label using the Amazon Seller app on my phone, and got "Sorry, we did not find a product on Amazon for this scan."

I opened my Manage Inventory page just now, and sure enough, all my ASINs have been unified. The FBA ASINs were dropped, and the FBM ASINs were kept.

I double checked and found no email or other notification from Amazon about this change. It's created multiple problems and expenses, including:

- The penalty I got for the above shipment

- I have at least two more shipments en route

- I am going to have to repackage, re-label, or buy new packaging with the new ASINs

Anyone else heard of this happening?

ASIN is the "number" you ONLY see in your "Manage Inventory" and is created automatically by the system. If your FBA and FBM products are identic, the MUST have the same ASIN.

I think you mean with pre-printed UPC or FNSKU. The ASIN is NEVER printed on the package. As mentionned it appears ONLY in your "Manage Inventory".

That's logic. If you labeled the products with the ASIN instead of the FNSKU, the system will not recognize them. That's why you see following happen:

What labels do you have to put on your products? The FNSKU.

Where do I get the FNSKU from? Go in your "Manage Inventory", click the arrow on the right of each product and chose "Print Item labels". You chose the size of the labels, put in the quantity on top right, and print your label sheets.

This is very basic knowledge and you are lucky that nothing worse happend till now. From now on, make it right.

Hello @Seller_zpyIysFYwNFrH,

Michelle at Amazon here. Do you have a Seller Support case that I can take a look at? If you don't have a case yet, please reach out to Seller Support to have them review why the ASIN was changed and provide them with the ASIN that it previously was. If you still need assistance after they have done their research, provide me with the case ID so I can review.

Thanks,

Michelle
