Setting up Brand Registry: We had another company selling our products and are now selling direct - listings are incorrect

I'm looking to gain some understanding on what to do in this particular scenario. In the past our company has gone through a third party company to sell our products on Amazon. They haven't done a good job, and we've decided to take things over and manage it ourselves internally.

We have a pending trademark so I was filling out the Amazon Brand Registry application and saw the part about listing ASIN for 1-3 products. My first thought, is how would I do that if just starting out on Amazon unless my product was generic and already sold by other sellers. Does this mean I need to create products on my Amazon seller account before applying for Brand Registry? I was told not to do this as then the product isn't associated with your "brand" and cannot be edited by you.

This brings me to the second half of my question. A dozen or so of our products are set up thru this third party seller on Amazon with the correct UPC and they have been assigned ASIN numbers already. The problem with this is, the listing information is mostly incorrect, we had requested they change it months ago which is part of the reason we wanted to break things off with them, so we could make sure our product was being represented correctly. Is there anything that can be done to "take ownership" over these listings and edit them ourselves? Or is the third party seller the only one able to edit since they uploaded them first to the platform?

If this third party seller were to delete all these products would we be able to recreate the details and ASIN number? Any advice or info is appreciated! I am obviously new to this and haven't been able to get thru to support directly.

Sounds like much of what I have been going through here. We allowed distributors to put our products on amazon before we joined the platform. I have been fighting for years now to get listings updated to show the current products correctly. With no luck.

Last year amazon pushed us to join brand registry to take control of our brand and our listings. This has been a very frustrating process that honestly is a waste of time and money. Our brand is not gated and we still have counterfeit products popping up from counterfeit sellers. BR did not fix this.

We can't edit more than half of our listings without deleting them and making entirely new product asins as the brand name used was not consistent across all the products added before we joined. This does not stop the other listings for being used still by the counterfeit companies. This has led to old out of date product variations being shown on multiple listings including current asins that should not be connected to these pictures.

The ai being used in brand registry can't tell the difference between a product picture i upload that is identical to the picture on the website,. A link they asked for to do this check and it still decided that a 2 inch long router bit that is not our product matches a ten foot long panel saw.

And this is just off the top of my head. There are plenty of other issue brand registry was suppose to solve that doesn't actually happen.

Hello @Seller_vy37ttRaaWwjN,

Thanks for the feedback regarding the process of registering to sell products on Amazon.

To answer your question, it is a best practice to first register in Brand Registry in order to list associated products. If you try to list them without being brand registered, you may encounter issues.

Secondly, you could try to contact Selling Partner Support and request to make updates to the listing's information as owners of the product and you may need to provide relevant documentation that prove your ownership. If you share your case ID, I'll review to see what options exist.

Have a great day!
