FBA Export Returns

We are having an issue with stock ending up in EU fulfilment centres despite not having storage enabled anywhere apart from the UK. We currently have stock in Poland and Germany.

Presumably this is due to FBA Export returns not being sent back to the UK.

I am aware that Amazon say they will not move stock between EU and UK FCs. I cannot get any progress with Seller Support resolving this.

On the FBA Export the help page states, “You do not pay any shipping costs for FBA Export customer returns” and “If the returned product is received in sellable condition, it will be returned to the original seller’s inventory. If the returned product is not in sellable condition, we will determine who is at fault (Amazon or the buyer) and provide reimbursement according to the FBA lost and damaged inventory reimbursement policy.”

As the stock is not back in the UK in our inventory surely it should be reimbursed? Also the problem with reimbursements is that they tend to make it to DE rather than our UK seller account so we can’t access it. In addition we are charged storage costs.

You would think that Amazon would have a solution to this problem with FBA Export returns, it must be affecting the majority of sellers, many not aware that they are racking up storage fees and risk VAT liability.

I don’t think it is just FBA export returns. I get items ending up in European Marketplaces which have never been sold via FBA export.

The only option is to destroy it at cost to resolve the issue.

I haven’t heard of anyone being forced a VAT liability on them as a result of this but I have had my German FBA Suspended as I have had stock in Germany without a VAT number.

I do agree it needs fixing.
