Amazon introduces Amelia, an AI assistant for third-party sellers

There is a CNBC article about Amelia, and how some 3rd party sellers have access to it in a beta format.

Anyone have experience with the chat bot yet?

I will be shocked if it is more advanced than the bot templates we already get 90% of the time. As much as sellers are in need of someone actually telling them what is specifically wrong and then what steps are needed to resolve it, I have low hopes that using an AI over a bot is going to improve anything.

It would definitely give the forum mods a break since they are like a seller's life line to a human who actually looks at the issue.

I haven't seen this. But I've seen Rufus (the customer facing AI)

If Amelia is 10x better than Rufus, then I think it would still be a piece of junk, possibly giving advice that would deactivate an account if followed. After all, Rufus is recommending a cookie full of nuts to those with nut allergies (potentially killing someone). So even if I ever get access to this, I wouldn't dream of relying on it.

Think about the current bots Amazon uses to police your listings.

The 3rd party sellers have enough issues dealing with sub standard live employees who are like bots. There is no need to create Amelia, an AI assistant.

Awesome! AI needs to be trained on text and that text is very likely all the "help" we have received in the last 5 years. That would be just like "seller support" now, but with the wrong and useless answers compounded many, many times.

Our best hope is an AI black hole where all "seller support" information is drawn in and can not escape again.

"Dufus" is customer facing. I can imagine, this is more important to Amazon. I feel it is a danger to the customer and I have expressed that here and other areas where Sellers Ask questions. As well as in a survey they sent me to a customer.

Now as a pilot I appreciate "Amelia" however, we should remember she went down in the pacific on an attempt to navigate the globe.

Irony, they named a AI interface after an aviator that disappeared, think about this Amazon sellers.
