Listing branded multipacks (GTIN Exemption not available for brand)
Hi there
So we have been selling on Amazon a while, we only sell branded goods, predominantly in multipacks of 2-5 (around 200 per day). Previously we have always added offers to existing catalogue listings as there is an excessive number of listings for our products in varying quantities already listed in the Amazon catalogue, we'd just add our price and send off to FBA.
In the last few days Amazon have been going through listings specifically from the "Continental" brand and deactivating them due to inaccurate GTIN's. As a result hundreds of our products are now stranded, this number is growing. I don't think we have any grounds to appeal the listing removal as we did not create the GTIN so suspect they are wrong from the original listing creator and the correct GTIN is in use elsewhere in the catalogue for a single.
We are now trying to create our own listings for multipacks of these products, but we cannot as the EAN is in use for the single item listing so cannot be duplicated for a two pack/ four pack etc (which are actually more popular than the single packs). I tried to apply for a GTIN exemption but have been told by Amazon it is not available for the "Continental" brand. The first Amazon customer representative i spoke to suggested listing these products as "Generic" - I guess this is an option but i feel it infers its a copy/fake product, devaluing it rather than the original branded product it is. The second representative just apologised and said nothing could be done.
I feel there must be a way round this as so many sellers across different categories must be listing multipacks of branded products and surely do not all remove the brand from the listing? Additionally i did notice some of the multipack listings that have remained from the Continental brand do actually have the correct brand stated on the product info page, so someone has managed to create a multipack for this brand. Any ideas to how this can be done? Am i missing something?
To clarify, the multipacks are not retail packs with their own barcode, they are just a few individual identical units grouped together, its just more cost effective to sell in multipacks as that is where the demand is (people don't just want one) and avoids multipayment of FBA fees should someone order several individuals.
Thanks, Alex

I don't think there is an option if amazon (or more likely Continental) want to crack down and tidy up their listings on Amazon.
We have it with some brands where Amazon are looking up against GS1 and are expecting Brand A to have a barcode of a particular format.
What you will see a lot of is things bundled up and then given a fake brand name (or slightly miss-spelt) to get around this. That is why Generic has been recommended to you. And some listings may still have Continental as the brand, even though the product itself is a bundle not actually affiliated with Continental. it's just amazon haven't got round to deactivating them yet.

My understanding (and happy to be corrected if I'm wrong) is that if you wish to create a multipack from individual units you need approval from the brand owner. Presumably whoever created the listings didn't have this approval and that is why those ASINs have been removed.
The only way round this if you don't want to list the item as generic is to apply to the brand for approval to create the multipacks and either ask them to provide an EAN for this or for them to give written approval for you to apply your own EAN.
