What is the purpose of a brand on Amazon?
Why did Amazon Brand Registry support team denied the complaints submitted without even reviewing it?

Hello @Seller_kM8mAhxN4mM34
My name is Sandy from the Community manager team.
I am assuming you are speaking to the Report a Violation tool within Brand registry. If so, please review the How to Report a Violation through Amazon Brand Registry to understand certain selections to make when using the tool.
Another point is if sellers are submitting trademark violations, depending on what is submitted in the "additional information" section, please also make sure your trademarks are not pending but registered status in the trademark office.
If you have a certain complaint ID you would like me to view to give any suggestions, please let me know.
Best,
Sandy

This is a huge problem. If you have a trademark and want to report a policy violation - Amazon requires you do brand registry first - in order to report the violation - but then Amazon requires specific brand photos (which is NOT what USPTO requires to own a trademark). Amazon also requires other outrageous and obscure requests in addition to the extensive wait periods to obtain a " Brand."
In reality, Amazon LEGALLY needs to take down trademark violations if you legally prove YOU own the trademark - NO MATTER if you register a brand on their site! A Trademark owner should NOT have to sell on Amazon nor should any brand owner be required to apply for a brand registry account (that can possibly steal and share our data)! It seems like Amazon is behaving as if THEY have more power than the government who issued the trademark!
On countless many other post in this forum, you will see many Brand owners have said they were denied for unknown reasons, and many others who were issued the "brand" only to have third party bad actors still able to sell on their registered brand name! This is unethical.

Hah. The purpose it to force sales and allow fake sellers to continue making sales so Amazon can maximize profit at our expense. Anytime a test buy results in adverse action against a seller, Amazon should refund us the cost of the test buy and take it from the other sellers account. I'd like to know what Amazon does with funds from sellers that are not returned due to IP violations!

One more thing, you have to request (I had to do it a few times) that they block any sellers from your listing without prior approval. Brand registered products seem to be ungated automatically.

QUESTION "What is the purpose of a brand on Amazon?"
ANSWER to give you the illusion that amazon will actually do something in the seller favor - reality is no.

The purpose of a brand on Amazon is to private label a common product sourced from overseas to prevent any other sellers from selling on that ASIN. This makes it impossible to comparison shop (is this widget the same as that widget, they look identical, but one costs more), and confuses the buyer with hundreds of basically identical items other than the brand. As its hard to get your listing to the top, you pay lots of money to promote the item. Name brand items tend to get buried due to that, and the customer gets frustrated with all the alphabet soup brand names and looks for a Samsung branded charger elsewhere.
Or at least that what branding is looking to me here....

It actually gets worse for the customer. Here is a perfect example. ASIN B07MGHGT8X is for a specific candy manufactures by Zachary Confections. The seller is not sending the product made by the manufacturer listed on the listing. Instead, they are buying knockoff candy that is nowhere near the same flavor/color/or taste from Walmart - under the "Great Value" brand.
Complained to Amazon. Nothing done. Did a product review stating that it does not match the brand - review was never posted. Did a seller review and Amazon struck through it, even though they had nothing to do with it. Why? because the seller is selling FBA and using Amazon to store and deliver the product that doesn't match the listing - Oh, and it can't be returned bc it is a food product.
The seller was able to sell through all of their product that in no way matches the listing, with no ramifications. Just one example of thousands...

It is supposed to be to protect your intellectual property but Amazon is failing at doing so.

"What is the purpose of a brand on Amazon?"
There is no purpose of a brand on Amazon. The purpose of having a brand is so a company can sell its unique branded products that no one else produces.
Amazon only offers a venue for branded companies to sell their products on. If a seller's brand products really exist in the real world, Amazon seems to have no problem accepting the brand being sold on the site. However, if sellers come to the site trying to start a brand with no idea of what is involved, or history of sales, they have a very difficult time being accepted to sell on the site.
"Why did Amazon Brand Registry support team denied the complaints submitted without even reviewing it?"
Only you can answer that question based on your unique circumstances. Usually, the rejection is based on poor documentation submitted.
"What does the purpose of TEST BUY if the complaint is going to get denied?"
Test buys on Amazon are supposed to allow a seller to detect and report other sellers who are selling your branded product without your permission. Some times they work and most times they don't. Scamming sellers have gotten much more suffocated in getting round this procedure.
A seller who owns a legally registered branded company has legal rights in their State that may be far more effective should the scammer live in the USA.

I'm trying to figure out how a seller has branded a CD on Warner label as their own so no one else can list on that page.
