In-Depth Look at Professional vs. Individual Selling Plans
Hi Sellers, Happy New Year! I hope that you had a great time with your family and friends over the holidays. I wanted to provide some basic information for our individual and professional selling plans as I've seen an uptick in questions over the past few weeks.
In-Depth Look at Professional vs. Individual Selling Plans
Amazon offers two primary selling plans for merchants on their platform. Here's a comprehensive breakdown:
Cost: $0.99 per item sold + referral fees.
Ideal for: New sellers, low-volume merchants (less than 40 items/month).
Features: Basic listing capabilities, ability to add new products to Amazon catalog.
Limitations: No bulk listing or inventory tools, can't offer special promotions or gift wrap.
Cost: $39.99/month flat fee + referral fees
Ideal for: Established sellers, high-volume merchants (40+ items/month)
Features:
• Bulk listing and inventory management tools
• Order reports and analytics
• Eligibility for top placement in the Buy Box
• Access to Amazon Brand Registry for brand protection
• Ability to run Sponsored Products ad campaigns
• Can offer gift wrap options and special promotions
• API integration for advanced inventory and order management
Key Considerations:
The Professional plan becomes more cost-effective once you're selling 40+ items per month.
Professional sellers can list in additional categories not available to Individual sellers.
The ability to win the Buy Box can significantly boost sales for Professional sellers.
Individual plan is great for testing the waters, while Professional is suited for scaling your business.
Flexibility:
You can switch between plans at any time.
Consider starting with Individual and upgrading as your sales volume increases.
Bottom Line:
The Individual plan offers a low-risk entry point for new or occasional sellers, with pay-as-you-go pricing. The Professional plan, while having a monthly fee, provides robust tools for serious sellers looking to grow their Amazon business. Your choice should depend on your sales volume, growth plans, and need for advanced selling features.

Thank you for the plan breakdowns. Since I cannot set the shipping rate on an individual plan, how do I pre-determine what Amazon will charge the customer for shipping?
