Transparency Codes

Hello,

1) If items I purchase do not come with a transparency codes, am I able to purchase them myself for verification purposes?

2) If so, where can I purchase transparency codes, and what is the process for obtaining them?

3) If I buy an item and it comes with a transparency code, is there anything else I need to do to verify its authenticity?

I would really appreciate if someone could touch on these points, and help clarify my confusion.

Thank you!

Hi @Seller_5tdtWOSXtrcXw!

Thanks for your questions about Transparency codes! Let me help clarify based on Amazon's help documentation.

Regarding purchasing codes yourself - I can see why you'd ask about this, but according to the "How Transparency works" section at Amazon's help page, Transparency codes can only be generated by brand owners who have enrolled their products in the program. These codes are unique to each product unit to ensure authenticity.

For identifying authentic Transparency codes on products you buy, the "Identifying Transparency enabled serial numbers" section at this help page explains that valid codes typically come in two formats:

  • A 26-digit code starting with "AZ:" or "ZA:" (total length: 29 characters)
  • A Serialized Global Trade Item Number (SGTIN) that's 38 characters long

To verify a product's authenticity when it has a Transparency code, you can use either the Amazon Shopping app or the Transparency app to scan the code. This will not only confirm authenticity but might also give you access to additional product information from the brand.

If you're a reseller, you'll receive an email notification when any products you sell become enrolled in Transparency. You'll also see notifications about this during the shipping creation process, as mentioned in this help document.

Hope this helps explain how Transparency codes work! Let me know if you have any other questions.

Best regards, Michael
