This is happening more and more for products previously listed without needing brand approval and now Amazon say you do, so you cannot edit the listing.

I think this maybe why the catalogue is littered with "generic" as a brand, as that seems to be how people get around it.

It's a mess, I asked a couple of brands in the past what to do because the EANs of their products had been squatted by other products or brands. They told me to list it as generic and put the brand name in the title. When it's actually distributors and manufacturers telling people to do that, there is no hope. But Amazon should sort the catalogue out, either they do like Etsy and eBay where every seller has full control of their listings or they must do/check the listings themselves (humans not bots) so that every listing matches an EAN and is up to standard. There are too many listings with no description, no info and the wrong photo, it's natural that people open their own generic listing to sell that product.

A real example. I would love to edit this B07VCML77F but I can't, it's incense and the listing is in French and it's down as a book. I would like it in English and in the right category before I add my offer.

What I don't get is...I am authorised to create listings for a few brands, I went through the official palaver, and I can create new listings ok but I can't edit any. It doesn't make any sense, if I am trustworthy enough to create listings, I should be able to edit them. I detest this system.
