Generic Listing Being Copied By Someone Else Word for Word

New seller here, Hello

I have a generic listing that is being copied by another seller. They are using the exact same product title and product listing points. Can I report them or do anything about it? I understand my listing is generic and not brand registered but I'd like to think I still spent some creative effort making sure my listing page looks decent. They went ahead and copied the entire thing as another generic listing.

Any reply is much appreciated, Thank you.

Your generic product is fair game. There is nothing you can do about it.

Do you know why generic products are made in the retail trade? They are made for the express purpose for retailers, such as you, to buy them and Pad Stamp their brand name on them.

Selling a generic product with a generic listing is the wrong way to go. Amazon tells buyers how many of the exact item sold in the last month. There are sellers out there who just look at those figures, and if a lot are being sold, they steal the product and listing. They find the manufacturer, buy it, create a new version of your listing and sell it for less.

Using this model of sales, delivers good profits with very little work. The reason being someone else has already done the work for you. Amazon itself used this model for sales. They sell over 100 different generic line of products all under different names. They see a good selling product offered by a seller, they register a new brand name and make that product theirs.

Even when you are brand registered, they do the same thing. The vultures are always circling.

Good, serves you right listing a branded product as generic and I hope they drop the hammer down on all of you. Amazon does nothing about it and Items I have been selling for years was taken over. There are variants and when you get them from the distributor, well it was listed as generic and can not add to main, even with invoice in hand.

I been following the rules, and it is slowly running me out of business, while the rule breakers thrive. Till then, like in my case, can not beat them, so might as well join them.

Just 1 example out of many that hurt us.

Look at Lily's Supermarket on amazon, they have thousands of branded items listed as generic.

some of their listings as generic,

1. Spring Valley (listed as generic)

2. Mainstays

3. Better Homes and Gardens

4. Cirkul FitSip

5. Cirkul GoSip

6. Kindfull Beef Jerky Dog Treats

7. SodaStream Bubly Drops

way to many to post here, but this is just from the first few pages out of thousands.

I am not an IP lawyer here, so take this for how you will as it's not legal advice. You can report them, but they technically haven't broken any IP laws.

A sentence, wording, bullet point, or phrase associated with a generic item isn't protected by copyright or trademark law. However, if you PERSONALLY painted, photographed, purchased or produced an image/video for the said generic item, that is protected under the copyright law.
