Do I need to start a new account to sell unrelated items

Hi All,

We started our biz selling only one item the Storage Pillow. We set the seller biz account up with that brand name under my husband's tax info (we also share the bank acct) etc. He is the seller if you look at our store info.

He now wrote a book and we want to also sell it on Amazon but we don't know how to do that correctly. We don't know if we need to open another account also under his name for the book so we don't have to sell his book with the Storage Pillow store...(which would look really weird and he wants his name as the seller) Its also not a variation so how do we get a completely different product listed?

I read all these forums where accounts get suspended bc people open two... any input would be great. Thank you!

To have two accounts you would need to get special permission. In addition, it would cost you extra if you wanted them to be on the professional plan as you would be paying for the plan for each account. I would recommend changing the display name to something that works for both products. I did the same thing, I used to just sell computer hardware, but branched out into other products, and so I changed the display name to a general name (Tennessee Valley Products) that works for everything.

Hello @Seller_PTpw5SQTsiboc,

Thank you for posting your inquiry to the Forums.

Per Amazon policy, you may only maintain one Seller Central account for each region in which you sell unless you have a legitimate business need to open a second account and all of your accounts are in good standing. If any of your accounts are not in good standing, we may deactivate all of your selling accounts until all accounts are in good standing.

Examples of a legitimate business justification include:

  • You own multiple brands and maintain separate businesses for each
  • You manufacture products for two distinct and separate companies
  • You are recruited for an Amazon program that requires separate accounts

I would suggest reviewing the following help pages as they provide additional detail on multiple account policy in order to mitigate having your selling account deactivated due to related accounts:

Selling policies and seller code of conduct

Comply with Amazon’s Multiple Account policy
