No apparent reason for my account being Featured Offer Eligible - "No" : Reoccurring Issue

About two year ago every SKU in my account switched to Featured Offer Eligible - "No". Seller Support had no guidance for me. No account performance targets or policies defects. It was about seven months before my account returned to Eligible - Yes. Then it happened again. I waited, and waited, and the account flipped back, again seemingly randomly. Now it has happened a third time.

My seller account health is all perfect. I have been an active Amazon seller, specializing in books, for over 18 years. I know how to manage all my account metrics and regulations. I am not a hobbyist seller. And I want to make it perfectly clear that I understand there is a tremendous difference between winning the "featured offer" buy-box and being "featured offer eligible." I am perfectly aware that winning the buy-box is a completely separate matter, but unless some of my products are featured offer eligible then my seller account turns into a ghost town.

I have read through quite a few discussion threads from dozens of sellers with the same (seemingly random) problem and a number of them had success getting their case escalated through tagging moderators.

Case ID: 15148229261, and Case ID: 15148402831

@Cade_Amazon @SEAmod @CR_Amazon

@Danny_Amazon  @Quincy_Amazon @Rose_Amazon

@Tatiana_Amazon@LeviDylan_Amazon @TaylorR_Amazon

@Glenn_Amazon @Cooper_Amazon  @Blake_Amazon

Unless I can uncover some guidelines or understanding for why this keeps happening I might have to simply abandon my seller account and move on because I can't manage a business which is this arbitrary. Please help!

I completely sympathize with you. We have been having the same problem off and on for the last year. Usually a MOD escalation has helped....eventually...only for it to happen randomly again at some point. We are waiting for help right now.

We also sell books. When we are FO Eligible we do pretty well, when it is switched to NO on all ASINS we predictably do poorly.

It is outrageously frustrating

This has happened - and continues to happen - with enough regularity to enough sellers, that I believe something is amiss and it needs to be taken seriously by Amazon and looked into.

Just a random mod escalating a random case here and there will no longer do. 😖

ANY hit (a late shipment, late delivery, bad feedback, etc.) on your metrics can take away that eligibility. Also, if your sales dip below a certain threshold in a category you can lose eligibility (and then it is even harder to get sales to get it back). Recheck all of your metrics, even the most innocuous thing can be what triggers it.

You are right - there is nothing worse that when you sat through your sentence (7, 30, 60 or more days) and you finally feel you are out of the dog house. But unfortunately, there is some metric we are not aware of that we need to stay within in order to get buy box eligible again.

I have heard that in order to be buy box eligible, there are unforeseen numbers we must meet. It stinks, but they do seem to exist.

I have found that by having your sales volume at a certain rate, you will get it back. Unfortunately, you need to keep your sales above a certain amount. And unfortunately, they do not publish that number. I do believe it is above 40 sales in a 30 day window,. I know that is a near impossibility when you are not buy box eligible. Sometimes, you just need to do what ever you can to get it back, even if that means selling at the lowest price or even a loss.

I have no proof of this theory. But it was told to me by an old timer a long time ago.

Its way too heavily graded and carries too much weight over one metric point, even when everything is still healthy. You drop a couple points and its like th end of the world. I don't understand the "buy box" or "featured offer" but I do know that my book business has almost quit having sales. My prices are all competitive and I don't understand at all what has happened. I used to have a thriving business and now I can go two days without a single sale. What do I need to do to change this?

Again, they are desperately trying to get ride of all FBM 3rd party book sellers. I have had the same issues, not 1 problem for over 6years then about 8months ago it’s been a fight everyday. You’ll notice Amazon now automatically responds to messages sent TO YOU regarding order problems and issues automatic A to Z claim. They do this without you ever receiving the message. If you’ll look under the ALL tab in your messages you’ll most likely see automatic responses issued by Amazon without ever alerting you.

Plus, they are deactivating tons of my listings (205 as of today)for pricing errors. When ask to open a case log, I did and explained the situation. Then they asked me to list all deactivation’s by ISBN # and how I come to my price setting. I responded back with EXACTLY everything they asked by providing a detailed list of my research methods and where I get my pricing reference's and so on. Then I get a message asking me to provide a list with all pricing outside pricing reference and what factors where considered for EVERY ISBN deactivation. I was so shocked they asked me to do their job for them! I told them I already did MY research when listing my book and asked them to please provide me a list of how they come to the highest and lowest price for every ISBN on Amazon and what are all the factors taken into account. I’m waiting to hear back or be deactivated. This never happened in the previous 5-6 years. It’s only recently that these things are all happening. Coincidence, I think not.
