Pending Orders Debacle....

How and why does Amazon allow pending orders to last more than a month? My question is/are

1) How to successfully get a "long term pending" (over 4 weeks old) order cancelled?

2) Is a pending order technically a hijack to your inventory? ex. if someone orders 30 units of an item from you and that order stays in pending forever, are those 30 units reserved for that "buyer" indefinitely? and will we get those 30 units back if Amazon finally cancels that order?

3) I have a feeling competitors may be "buying" some inventory and not paying for it (ie. intentionally cleaning out my stock to into pending status, with the intention of raising the buy box price). Is that something that could ever happen? or is it my paranoia talking?

Hi @Seller_f3bYKzuGWreTg,

Dominic from Amazon, happy to help! On the Manage orders page, an order with a status of Pending might indicate an issue with the buyer's payment method or a convenience store payment method. In some cases, our payment and order detail verification processes can potentially extend order processing times for as long as 21 days. If an order is older than 21 days and still in pending status I would create a case with Seller Support and request their assistance with these orders. I took a look at your orders and I can see two that are older than 21 days. Those should be falling off soon.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions!

Best,

Dominic

@Dominic_Amazon, I have a customer who placed 3 orders with us within an hour, one was SF which we shipped out the same day. The others were FBA which are still pending after 3 days. I opened a case 14398613621 and support keeps giving me the same canned response about pending payment verification. This is an all too common occurrence with sellers. There is an obvious problem with pending FBA orders. All of us who are both SF and FBA can attest to the every day huge volume of pending FBA compared to pending SF orders. It is my personal opinion that Amazon cannot ship the orders fast enough so they leave it pending until they can ship. I just can't believe the customers aren't complaining about this.
