Prior refund applied
When an automatic refund is applied by Amazon for a customer return (on first scan by the carrier), is there subsequently any need or any point , to do anything else when the goods come back? I ask as I notice these transactions still appear in the Please review your open returns requests list

You don't need to do anything if refund at first scan has taken place.
I can't recall why some remain on the open returns list and others don't but there isn't anything yo need to do.
