Child ASIN's detached from parent

I have a parent ASIN, which (until yesterday) had 5 child variations. This has been set up and working fine for months. For no identifiable reason, yesterday the child Asins became detached from the parent. I cannot see any way of re-attaching them. Seller support sent me through a link, but that wanted to create new variations, not attach existing ones.

Seller support also referred it back to second line who promptly sent me a link on how to create a new listing and closed the case.....

I cannot create a new listing and / or new variations as the product is FBA and in stock in their warehouse. Has anyone come across this / found a solution? Why would it happen in the first place?

Yes constantly, if they are not splitting ASINS and SKUS they are merging them, its a constant battle.

If they have split ASINS (detached from parent) but attached to another ASIN ask them to split the variation family.

They will keep coming back saying it cant be done, then eventually someone just does it, just need to persevere.
