AMAZON NEEDS TO FIX THE GENERIC ISSUE!
its ridiculous that people are listing items with a valid UPC code and brand name under "GENERIC" probably because they arent allowed to sell that brand! its unfair to people that are actually allowed to sell the item! what is amazon doing about this issue? its so dumb and I feel like amazon associates have no clue what to do or say!!!!

or how about title "well known brand A" under brand xyz123 being sold by Bobsstuff Red
and a different listing also selling "well known brand A" under brand xyz124 being sold by a Bobsstufff Blue
etc...
all the time they are selling as a well known brand (who is not complaining) - but supplying a knock-off product.

You are completely right. This new Generic rules will transform the Amazon catalog in a huge mess IF NOBODY IS controlling if the listed Generic products really ARE generic. And as we see many, many times, many, many sellers break the rules without consequences. The new Generic rule says:
"Generic products are unbranded products that do not belong to any identifiable brand. An unbranded product does not have a distinctive name or logo."
So, from the moment a picture, title or description mentions a BRAND, this ASIN is NO LONGER GENERIC.
But who cares? Who controls? Can we report such listings?

Yes please!! I have been reporting the issue to Amazon for awhile now and they have not helped at all. One seller specific has blocked off several popular brands by listing then as Generic and charging quadruple their value meanwhile no one else can get on the listing or replicate it with the proper branding.

I have raised this issue with support, made complaints through the proper channels, had Mods get involved, only to have the Mods stop responding when they realize Amazon simply does NOT CARE if they get sales. Unless there is a high risk of a lawsuit, Amazon turns a blind eye. It seems the key is to have good sales and you can do anytying on Amazon. Unless you are honest, then you get #$*@.

This is a MASSIVE issue. I am shocked Amazon doesn't direct some attention to this after so many complaints, and sellers support being inundated with questions regarding this topic. Would increase overall sales on this platform, and most likely provider end customer a lower price on most items over time.

I mean Amazon recently sent out a wave of suspensions to sellers on incorrect generic listings. I'm sure they could do more to prevent them from being created in the first place but they are certainly taking action against them. They remove fake and generic listings all the time.

Very ridiculous and frustrating. Customer Support is useless, keeps saying that you're not allowed to list as violations to Generic policy. But first, they need to define "generic". Second, when rejecting our applications, they at least need to clearly give us the reason why or provide a list of required docs. Just a general response "you're not allowed".

I will tell you why Generic is being used. Amazon Brand Registry is a scam. We have lost over 20 listing to fake Brands. Amazon is giving Brand recognition to sellers that do not own the Brands when they are applying for a TM knowing they will be turned down. Amazon could stop this. Amazon has told us, and we have it in writing. If you are told by the fake brand, you can't sell then you are SOL. Amazon will not help you. Many sellers are being financially hurt by amazon's lack of Do diligence when reviewing an application for Brand Registry.
We wish someone would sue amazon over this. Brand Registry and the catalog are Garbage. Amazon is becoming a yard sale platform You never know what you are getting as a buyer.

I thought you were going to bring up the issue when listing products under a brand that you account gets flagged incorrectly for Generic Policy issue.
