How Does "Retain the Current MFN Offer" Work When Enrolling in FBA?

Hello fellow sellers,

I am looking into enrolling my product in Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA). When hovering over the button "Create New FBA Offer," I see an option to "Retain the Current MFN Offer."

I want to understand how this option works and how it impacts my existing Merchant Fulfilled Network (MFN/FBM) listing. Specifically:

Does it create a separate listing with a different SKU?

Will my existing MFN offer remain active until FBA inventory arrives?

What do experienced sellers recommend for a smooth transition to FBA?

I’d appreciate any insights from those who have gone through this process.

Thanks in advance!

This topic doesn’t seem to get many replies, but I’d appreciate any insights from fellow sellers or Amazon Moderators.

When enrolling a product in FBA, I see the option to "Retain the Current MFN Offer" under "Create New FBA Offer". This leads to a form where I can create another SKU under the same ASIN.

My Question:

If an ASIN has two SKUs—one for FBM and one for FBA—when a customer makes a purchase, which SKU does Amazon choose?

1. Does Amazon automatically prioritize FBA over FBM in this case?

2. Is there a way to control which SKU is selected?

I’d appreciate any insights from experienced sellers or moderators. Thanks in advance!
