Question about seller-fulfilled replacements - reimbursement for original order not returned

We know that if an FBM customer opens a return with a replacement request, we ship the replacement order, but the customer does not return the original order in 30 days, we are eligible for an automatic reimbursement.

Our question is, does Amazon cover the cost of this reimbursement on its own, or does Amazon charge the customer for the reimbursement cost (basically, charging the customer again for the replacement item for failing to return the first item, in addition to what the customer paid for that original item)? We are asking this because the customer has messaged us personally that there was a new charge for not returning the original order.

We asked this in seller support (case #15528920731) but the Amazon responses are just repeating the same reply of "you are eligible for reimbursement" without answering our question of WHO pays for that reimbursement. Please assist.
