Parcel to Germany (from UK Amazon)

Hi

We had an order for a customer in Germany. I think they must have ordered through UK Amazon as we are registered in Europe but all are “on holiday” except for UK.

Amazon charged the customer £10 for delivery. We sent it via DPD courier. Today there is a email saying there’s a customs charge of around £8 to pay. Are we obliged to pay this? Or is it because our email was linked to the parcel as we don’t have one from the customer? What would usually happen?

Previously we’ve been 100% FBA sellers but in an effort to save on fees we’ve started to ship some stuff ourselves. This is the first non-UK order we’ve had. We’ve not sent anything on Amazon ourselves for a number of years so rather rusty with how it all works.

Thanks for any advice and help.
