Amazon fees regular price vs. sale price
Can I have a moderator answer please! This may sound like a silly question, but I have a bet with someone and can't seem to find a firm answer in the Amazon Seller Central pages. With the Amazon fees being a % of the price, if you put an item on sale, does Amazon take their cut/% on the original price or the sale price?

I'm not a moderator, so I can't officially settle your bet, but I can share that Amazon's referral fee (the 15% you're referring to) is calculated based on the sale price—the amount the customer actually pays. So if you put an item on sale, the fee is taken as a percentage of the discounted price, not the original price.

I'm not a mod either, but in some areas I know more than they do. I can assure you that on this I know for certain.
It is calculated on the actual price charged to the buyer. Source
Item price
+ Shipping charges paid by the buyer
- Referral fee
- $0.99 per item fee (If not on the Selling Professionally Plan)
-------------------------------------
= Total deposited to seller account

Hello @Seller_DnVcdNkwor08g,
+1 to what @Seller_J46Ruz3VzvWCVand @Seller_i6S8knzW6zU6Zsaid, the referral fee is calculated as a percentage of actual cost charged to the customer, or buyer.
