Finally applied for Brand Registry

And I was approved! I'm not trying to flex, I just wanted to offer encouragement to any other handmade sellers who have been thinking about applying.

I've been selling on Amazon since 2020 and I finally decided to take the plunge and apply for Brand Registry. It was surprisingly easy although I'm not sure if my trademark will be approved (it can take up to a year). I didn't use a lawyer and simply filled out the form on the government website and paid the $250.00. Looking back, I wonder if it would have been better to use the Amazon fast track approach which includes help from their legal team.

I was very worried that I would be rejected based on a couple of things. The items I make cannot be marked with my brand so that means it has to be on the packaging. A label doesn't count. (These are things I learned in the process). I have been working on proto-types for packaging but I was worried these wouldn't be accepted.

The second thing I was concerned about was providing an invoice for where my items are manufactured. Since I make them myself, I included an invoice with some raw materials. I had no idea if this would work but it did!

As I mentioned, I've been selling since 2020 with good metrics. I'm a small seller too so maybe there was some grace granted to me by the reviewing team. Either way, I was shocked and excited that I received approval in one week. I'm now navigating getting my listings changed from generic and trying to come up with A+ content. If only I could afford a marketing team...
