How does the enforcement tool work in the Amazon Brand Registry?

We currently have a single mark registered with the Amazon Brand Registry based on one (1) U.S. registration and eleven (11) Canadian registrations. All of our ASINs are also registered as we have an Amazon store. Our trademark is also licensed to a number to third party Licensees. We are not yet enrolled in Project Zero.

Is my understanding correct that there is an automated tools for trademark enforcement? If so, how does that tool work? I can see from the dashboard that infringing ASINs are being found and those products automatically removed. The same also seems to be happening for the single registered mark.

How do we prevent the automated process from removing our licensees, who are legitimately selling our branded products? It has not been a problem so far, but we want to be proactive and better understand the process.

Please explain how the automated process works in detail. Right now it is not clear.

Thank you.

Hi @Seller_CaFCJ5Hu74rMn

My name is Sandy from the Community manager team. Thank you for your post.

The brand team continues to innovate and improve our automated brand protections, which leverage the latest advances in artificial intelligence to stay ahead of new and emerging bad-actor tactics.

While I can't get into the minor details, these advanced machine learning models use thousands of signals, including data provided by brands enrolled in Brand Registry, to protect customers and brands.

The brand team uses a variety of advanced machine learning models, including significant advances in computer vision and large language models, to systematically detect many different types of infringement, including improving our ability to accurately detect complex visual intellectual-property infringements of logos, shapes, and patterns.

These advances allow us to handle complex repetitive tasks efficiently and with precision at scale.

The brand team uses information from brand enrolled in Brand Registry, as highlighted above. If your registered and have the third party licensees also added into your brand, Brand uses this as the source of truth so you should not encounter these issues. If you do, you can explain that you are the owner and provide documents.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Sandy. Thank you for your response. You state that if "third party licensees are added to [our] brand, Brand uses this as a source of truth so [we] should not encounter these issues." Issues being removing our legitimate licensees.

What does adding third party licensees entail? We don't want our licensees to have any enforcement or access privileges to our Brand Registry account. Is this just as simple as providing a list of licensees or entering the names of our licensees into your system? Please provide further details and process steps.

Thank you.

Thank you, Sandy. I will review your "roles" post in greater detail. I got conflicting information from the Brand Registry help chat. My preliminary review of the "roles" post makes more sense. I will come back with more questions if necessary.

Thank you. Sandy. I am working up a presentation to my management to expand our use of the ABR. I need to better understand the Impact Dashboard - Proactive Protections and the information contained therein. Here are my questions by sections. To recap, we currently have one (1) brand registered and one (1) brand protected. We are operating a store and all of our ASINs are recorded with Amazon.

Listings and modification removed or prevented. "Infringing ASINs removed, new ASIN creation attempts prevented, and existing ASIN modification attempts prevented" Do these numbers refer to ASINs removed or prevented only? Or do these numbers include trademarks (the registered brand)?

Listing impact: Store/Brand/Category. The time period is Jan 1, 2025 - Mar 25, 2025. If I select the "By brand" tab, I get a number. This number is LESS than the number for the same time period in the "Listings and modification removed or prevented" section. Is that because this number refers to removals relating to the "Registered brand" and not the ASINs?

Listings Impact: Trends. For the same time period Jan 1, 2025 - Mar 25, 2025. If I select the "By brand" tab, I get a curve. What is the number on the y-axis? The x-axis is time. What is the value shown where the lines intersect?

Listings Impact: Brands. Again, the same time period Jan 1, 2025 - Mar 25, 2025. The number given is the SAME number as the number given in Listing impact: Store/Brand/Category. Same question is this removals based on our registered brand?

Listings impact: Protection type. Again, the same time period Jan 1, 2025 - Mar 25, 2025. Again SAME number as in the previous section. However, the note in the section says "ASIN modification." Does that mean this number refers to ASIN removals and not Brand removals? If so, why is it the same as Brand removals and not the same number as in "Listings and modification removed or prevented?"

I can understand that the number of Brand removals remaining the same. However, the SAME number with reference to "ASIN modification" in the "Listing impact: Protection type" does not make sense if the number in "Listings and modification removed or prevented" applies to ASINs removed only and not Brands removed.

I need to make sense of the numbers so I can explain how expanding our use of the ABR will benefit our company.

Thank you!

Hi @Seller_CaFCJ5Hu74rMn

Thank you for your question.

What I mean when I mention "adding to your brand" is adding the third party licensees either a seller role or protection role.

You can look into the What are the roles within Brand Registry? Here's the list! post I created for more information on this!
