Is Amazon lowering peoples (consumers) ethics and values? Or is it all Amazon's fault?

Hello everyone. I wanted to start this thread just to see what fellow Amazon sellers opinions are. Every seller (or majority) has gotten the usual INR (item not received) refund. Then we look at the tracking and see that it was delivered. AKA people just wanting free stuff. If it hasn't happened to you, then it will.

My question mostly is though, is it Amazons fault, or the consumers? Is it Amazons fault for letting it be too easy for this to happen? Or is it just the overall values people have to steal from sellers because of reason X Y and Z? Has Amazon actually lowered peoples values?

Im sure most people think "Amazon screws everyone so who cares if I get something free from them" while not realizing its the 3PS that gets hurt. Some people dont even know that everything sold on Amazon isnt actually sold FROM Amazon. This is the reasoning for my business model that I wont sell high priced items. The INRs can really hurt your profit margins. People will (usually) overpay for something, file a INR, and justify it as it was over priced anyways, so why should they pay for it? All opinions welcome, this was just a sitting on the toilet thought after getting a "item damaged in transit" return on a video game digital code, which they used the code and just returned the product.

Its the broader cultural issue of self centeredness. This has eroded moral, values, pricipal based decision making and replaced it with decision making soley based on the benefit to the individual.

Add that to emotional based decision making that comes along with narcisism and you have a customer base that only cares about themselves, has no empathy or rational train of though to identify immorality or ethics.

If you really want to blame something I would say the destruction of the family by capitalisms need for a 2 income household leaving children without parents for extended periods of time combined with social media results in the younger generations not having developed values and coping mechanisms to be productive and ethical memebers of society.

Thieves are attracted to places that have policies that enable them to thieve. Imagine that.

And it is easy to steal from some faceless entity like Amazon. I still have a good many buyers who are demanding that Amazon give them back their money for an order that they have not returned yet. They never even realized that they had bought from a 3rd party seller. Of course, this could also be an EPIC level of entitlement as well. People often act instinctively to quiet the yelling so it may be deliberate on the buyers part.

I'm always amazed that someones integrity can be bought for a $5 shipping label. More to the point, yes Amazon fosters this behavior.

I am 100% of the opinion these types of frauds are the fault of Amazon. This platform is a breeding ground for fraudsters. People that would never steal a piece of candy in real life have no issue lying to Amazon simply because they KNOW Amazon will do absolutely nothing about it. We sell on multiple platforms including retail and Amazon's fraud rate is literally 1000X our others. If Amazon would stand behind their sellers, even a little, and punish those who break the law it would all but stop. But...... That is not likely to happen, ever.

It's every single day. DO NOT tolerate fraud. Take the negative feedback. Tell them to call the cops if their package was stolen.

Someone ends up paying for all this 'free' stuff and ironically it's the real customers.

There've always been thieves and scammers. And there are far more honest customers than thieves or else we'd all be out of business. Sure Amazon could do a better job protecting sellers against thieves. But I see no reason to believe that it is any worse than it has been throughout the history of time.
