GS1 UPC Barcodes and/or FNSKU for 'Consumable Products'

Hello,

I’m preparing to send my first inventory shipment to Amazon’s FBA warehouse, and all my products fall under the ‘Consumable’ category.

I’m the brand owner, registered with Amazon Brand Registry, and the product labels already have unique GS1 barcodes integrated, along with expiration dates. Additionally, these products will never be available for sale via 3rd party.

However, because the products are consumable and do have expiration dates, I’m unsure if I have completed all the required steps. I’ve thoroughly reviewed Seller University, as well as various discussion forums, but most answers simply point back to Seller University, leaving me without a clear answer.

Since I’ll be shipping multiple pallets and can’t afford additional costs due to potential errors, I want to ensure I’m following the correct process.

So, my question for clarification is, will the GS1 UPC barcode on the labels be sufficient, or do I need to include FNSKU barcodes as well?

Thank you for your assistance!

Welcome to Amazon! We also sell consumable items (grocery). The GS1 UPC is to help get the product on to Amazon. Since you have a consumable product it's highly recommended (if not mandated - depending on your category) to use Amazon's FNSKU labels on your products.

Please tell me that you've already tested the viability of this product and it's a good one. Would hate to read a post from you in 4-6 months complaining about high 4th quarter storage fees, long term storage fees, and expensive removal orders.
