Appario and cloudtail is back with their exorbitant prices. Because of these sellers who believe in burning cash and other genuine seller’s marketshare, we are struggling ! Can’t believe this day light cheating

So the Amazon India is testing waters,
The regulations imposed by the government itself are not explicit. Can’t blame Amazon for that.

There has been no news of Amazon getting rid of its stake in cloudtail or appario, Amazon is waiting if there will be any strict action from the govt side.

It would be wait and watch for all small sellers on the platform

just like new sellers at Amazon wait and watch by ignoring policy warnings :)…well…if both of these groups be permanently closed then Amazon may fly away from India. Yes, it can happen also. They are already in great loss as per balance sheets.

See there are 2 things:

  1. They have to close down the part where their own stakes are held. Means they actually can’t sell their own brand and they have to stop their own personal brands.
  2. They can continue selling other brands’ stuff.

So, point no. 1 is actually the thing which caught Government’s interference which is correct. There is bar for point no. 2 because there are top brands who have assigned them distributionship for online sales and due to Appario and Cloudtail, customers have loads of trust when it comes to authenticity. Even, I, myself trust cloudtail/appario when I wish to buy authentic products from top brands like samsung, nike etc.

The problem was they started introducing their own brand like solimo, Amazon basics just like any other seller at platform. So, this was wrong because they become so aggressive that each product they started offering under their own label. So, this was to be shut not the other brands’ sale.

To elaborate point no. 2, there are many private labels who supply their inventories for sales in bulk to cloudtail and appario. Even there are top rated seller who later would mostly like to switch from seller ship to vendor ship in order to fetch healthy sales without caring for customers’ direct services. If it was to be considered then there are lakhs of sellers whose businesses would get vanished. But relax, point no. 2 is not affected.

So, in nut shell,Their own brands wouldnot continue but they can RESELL always as per govenrment’s policy. For the liquidation of left over inventory of their own brands, they would have assigned some other sellers to liquidate the inventory. It was leading to create a monopoly in market but Government took right action. Companies like Amazon are way smarter. They would have known about this so far but they do know their product life cycle and hence played very well. Hats off to Amazon.

Amazon should make same policy for coudtail and other seller, other wise always other seller will fight against them .

For example - a product actual cost 100 rs , other seller can’t sale less than 299 to 350 rs if weight is 1 kg .

But cloudtail can sell , that is the main difference, As they not need to pay the fees and many more thing .
