Is free pickup included with FBM UPS Buy Shipping

We normally ship USPS. A couple weeks ago, we read that you can get free UPS pickup if you use Buy Shipping. We tested it with one order, input our tracking number on UPS Schedule A Pickup, and sure enough it said that was eligible for free pickup. Went flawlessly.

Today, we did the same thing but when inputting the tracking number, UPS says pickup charges would apply.

Anyone have any insight into this?

I played around with that a while back. I got inconsistent results as well, I got it to work once, but then after that it kept saying there would be charges. I gave up on it.

@Seller_SF55N2jD10m4P,

Pardon the ignorance, but in order for us to best assist can you share the source for where you were reading that? I'd be happy to do some digging if I can help.

Its not, you'd have to have paid for the pickup at label generation ($6.5 for most managed accts) or have a route plan. I would assume the one time free pickup was a system error. UPS's website is notably...trash.

free pickup is not supposed to be included in Amazon's buy shipping. You must have had a fluke -- or you'll get a bill from UPS later on. We have near daily pickups with Smart Pickup. Go online every day and request a pickup. Costs us less than $10/week. Totally worth it for us.

No experience with a free pickup. We have stayed away from UPS since Amazon dropped their sweetheart rates for us to use. We are at the local PO 7 days a week.

The guys at my local UPS store did tell me they are now open on Sundays but no pickups that day.

Anything that has a pickup fee we stay away from.

Could have been some special "promotion" like when they start showing super discounted rates for UPS thinking they will move people over to primarily using UPS.

I live out in the sticks, the Post office is just down the road (walking distance on a nice day) and if anyone goes out it is a quick stop to drop things off.

To go to UPS, it is a definite drive each way.

I only ship UPS when I have to (like when I send that one sku that I do FBA to FBA.) I'm not making the daily drive to town just to drop off an 8 oz package.

I have not had much luck with "arranging pickup" because that would mean having to post some one to hang out by the driveway gate just waiting to see if UPS shows up. Our Regular driver would probably be willing to come looking for us if the pickup went to him but I can't depend that he is on every single day and I've had other UPS drivers leave packages out on top of full trash cans at the road or dropped in the tall grass along the road sort of near the driveway or just pitched out the door into the driveway at the road.

We have a long driveway with double gates 100 yards in. Most of the time packages get dropped over the outer gate or piled up at the gate but there are some drivers who are afraid to pull in because they don't know how to back up or turn around.

No, not usually included. Pickup has a charge and you must be around for the person to come.

If you had it once, it had to be a promo or something else.

Ive never seen it. I do have a UPS account with a daily pick up. I believe it is $20 per week.

Basically, UPS comes by daily to pick up packages. We average 30-40 per day

DHL offers free pick up with an Amazon generated DHL number.

It will however take about 24 hours to register in the DHL system.

We already have daily UPS pickup so unsure about free pick up with them - but you can try with your tracking number in 24 hours and see if it works.
