Another product is using our UPC Code

We are a manufacturer and owner of the GS1 certificate for the UPC code in question. There is a product listing, not currently available, but that is using the same UPC code and preventing me from adding our product. I have created a case in seller central but had not success in getting this product cleaved and my product set up. Case 14049832001.

I have tried creating a listing policy violation, for incorrect information without luck either. ASIN: B000BBS0PA, Complaint ID: 14141468321

ASIN: B000BBS0PA

UPC code: 811614000962

I have been told to contact the Catalog Team, but have yet to figure out how to do that within the case file system.

1. Why it happened?

- In the past, a seller who wanted to list their own product just made up a UPC number. Or, to make the seller feel good they bought them from a UPC scalper. Amazon did not check UPC's at the time, so sellers could get away with it.

2. Why you hit the road block.

- Amazon has no desire in verifying billions of UPC's already associated to a product sold on the site. Now you come along with a Valid UPC, and it is not accepted.

3. How to correct the situation?

- Send your documentation, showing you are the GS1 registered owner, to Amazon's legal office in Seattle. State the ASIN that is being infringed upon. Give them about two weeks to resolve, and the situation will be corrected.

Hi @Seller_bt4b81aeFZxLS,

I have been advised for you to try and list this product again with a slightly different merchant SKU. The error should no longer occur.

Please let me know if this attempt is successful or not.

Thanks,

Steve
